I had this teacher for Spanish last year and she basically failed the whole year and I failed along with the rest of the kids and now I got 2 fails in my report card from Spanish 1A and 1B. I am currently a Junior and I want to go to a CSU or perhaps a UC when I get out of high school. For me foreign language is not a requirement to pass high school but I dont want to got to a community college first and then to a UC for personal reasons. Because I got those 2 Fails my GPA has dropped substantially. I was thinking of taking the year of Spanish over summer and the last year when I am a senior. However, the only online courses that are accepted at my high school are BYU indepandent study and we really dont have much money to pay for those courses or OFL or OFY and those are basically full now, or taking Spanish during summer with those same teachers in my school and that I cannot do because I will end up getting fails again. Those spanish teachers passing rate are about 17%. I already know I will fail with them again so thats not really an option. My BIGGEST GOAL is to pass my foreign language requirement and get those FAILS erased. I thought of taking a course at a community college course but my school will not give me any credit for it and I can only take Spanish 1A during summer and I dont have enough time to get another semester in and another year in by my senior year. I can speak Farsi fluently and I was born in Iran and went to school their for 1st and 2nd grade and I'm pretty sure that my Farsi is not good enough to pass 2 years of it. IS THERE ANY GOOD OPTION THAT I CAN DO 1 YEARS OF SPANISH DURING SUMMER. Please dont tell me that its late and that I should have though of it sooner and stuff, I already know.

Study hard, go through the textbooks, and maybe with a tutor.

Take it through FLVS (Florida Virtual School, open to non Floridians) if it’s cheaper than BYU. Ask the Spanish dept, if you take that class then take a Spanish 1 of their choosing, would you be allowed to erase your Spanish 1 fail and then take Spanish 2?

The only credits that they accept is either from OFL OR OFY and BYU and from certain classes from community college which includes Italian but not spanish or from their own school. I thought of taking two years of spanish at a community college and that way I would get both college and School credits for them but I would still have 2 fails weighing me down.

OFL. OFY. BYY. Impossible becausee…=?

OFL is full and OFY is full and BYU is too expensive for 2 semesters
Im thinking just taking ASL at a community college for summer and fall semsters and that will equal 2 years. Is ASL a good foreign language class ?

ASL isn’t often recognized by colleges. Meaning that you’ll have to start from scratch and may have to take 1-3 semesters of a foreign language in college. Go see your guidance counselor to see what other solutions you may have.
