Applying to CoE. Plan on pursuing Computer Science.

You might get a full-ride scholarship but the competition is heavy and the chances are slim. Theres no real way to see, except to apply, file your fafsa, and wait.

No I am very talented, and I have a passion for sports. We get random drug testing every two months. I don’t do all those EC’s in one year it is spread among all three years.

I was just asking because I also did football and basketball, and some days I’d get home around midnight, leaving me no time for school work or academics. You must have really good time-management skills to undertake those activities, and still have time school.

School ends around 2:15, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 1:15 on Wednesday. We generally have a 4 hour practice every day except on game days which is Friday. So I generally get home around 7 and then have dinner, then go and complete all my homework ultimately going to bed around 1:00AM, and waking up at 6:00 so yeah I lose a BUNCH of sleep.

However, I basketball and football are completely during different seasons. I have football in the fall, and basketball in the winter. So I have time in between to catch up on some much needed rest and our training aka conditioning here is BRUTAL. Running stadiums (running up and down 300 stairs, up to 10 times in one day) will prep you for anything I hate them so much I rather roll up and die.

If by “full ride” you mean an all scholarship no-loan financial aid package I think the odds are slim. A 3.85 UW GPA is strong but given that 63+% of all Michigan students have high school GPAs higher than 3.75 it’s not overwhelming. Second, you’re assuming a perfect ACT. If you get it then you’ll be noticed but I just don’t know that it will be enough for consideration for one of the “full ride” programs (perhaps someone who’s received one of those scholarships could share their statistics). Third, while as an Asian you have URM status in the general population, Michigan’s Asian population runs around 12% of the student body versus 4.5% for the population at large. So in effect you’re an over-represented minority as far as Michigan is concerned. Finally, you’re an OOS applicant. Financial aid is notoriously stingy for OOS students, so you’d be hoping for a lot to get the kind of award you’re dreaming about.

Unless you can run a 4.2 40-yard dash or average 25 points and 12 rebounds a game, I think your chances at a full ride are going to be much higher staying in Florida.

yeah, I have asthma too…and I checked the “asthma” box on the scholarship page. I have yet to see any asthma scholarships, haha. Same goes with the “6’4’’ or taller” box…

and I know what you mean about not having any sleep man… I went most of my senior year in 5 hrs a night. Not cuz I’m a crazy athlete like you, but because I had an early post secondary class.

My HS is HUGE when I graduate in 2012 we have 867 JUNIORS including me, that is ALOT. We have a total of 3000 kids at my HS.

MLDWoody, wow I have many physical attributes that you possess as well I am also 6 foot 4 inches as-well

I don’t consider myself a “crazy” athlete my any means, I just participated in sports because I have a passion for them. I would consider myself a “crazy” athlete if I was being recruited but i’m not.

I forgot to say that is impressive you play all of those sports and it is a big high school. I got a friend here that was on his school’s track team and football team and he is literally the least athletic person I know here. His graduating class was only 65 kids…
