(sorry, this will be a long one) Ok, so I have a friend who is convinced she is going to get into a specific HADES school (I'm trying to disclose as little information as possible, but still get the point across) I definitely do NOT think that she has much of a chance, but I don't know how to tell her. She is not going to apply until next year (for the 2010-2011 school year) and she would be applying for 10th grade (or a repeat ninth grader (she's not sure yet), she is a year younger than most people in our grade, but has not skipped a grade)

I think she is slightly obsessed. she has even made plans to go with certain friends, ect...
She talks about how it is "my "name of school", and she knows practically every little detail about it. She has the advantage of legacy, (a sibling is there currently)

here are her stats:
Sports: she is a great athlete, she is even on a high school varsity team, even though she is in 8th grade

Other Extra curriculars: none to my knowledge. no clubs, school "government" ect...

Arts: It is VERY unlikely that she has a singles arts credit (I've never seen or heard of her doing any visual or performing arts besides required 6th grade chorus)

Community service: once monthly at a childcare center (for a whole school day) (the whole grade does it)

Awards: LOTS of sports awards. I don't think she has any academic awards. Her current school does not have anything similar to honor role, ect..., She has also done an academic summer camp for multiple years

Grades: she's in 1 out of 2 honors courses offered, but got a D fir the first quarter. She may have brought it up to a C+ or B- for the second quarter, but the semester will probably still sit at a C.
in other classes she may have gotten one (or two) A's, but the rest were B's and C's
Also, 7th grade grade's were not ultra impressive either
Essays: will probably be OK. she aspires to be a writer, but has never gone public/gotten awards.

Teacher rec's: probably pretty good, she's not an especially angel student, though not bad either

Background: Indian, though she was born in and has lived on the east coast her whole life

Pretty much her grades are not the best, and I don't think she's very well rounded either.

So, how do I get it across to her that she doesn't have a free ticket into the school and that if she really wants to go to boarding school (which isn't really true, because she was to go to the specific school, she couldn't care less if she had a free ticket to another boarding school) she needs to apply to more, but still does not have a ticket into boarding school at all.
