Brown is an amazing premed school and it is my dream school so I am looking for any advice on how to improve my stats/ecs to maximize my chances of getting in:
I’m a sophomore at a top high school in California
GPA- 4.0 uv, 4.6 weighted,
Sophomore year course load: Ap calculus AB/ BC, Ap Computer science, AP Chemistry, AP World History, English 10 H, Research Methods
SAT: Old sat 2290- retaking, PSAT 1480 (750 m 730 r/w)
ECS: President of multiple clubs including- girls who code, bone marrow drive, research club, started a nonprofit to help cancer patients, etc…
Research: Internships in biomedical research from freshman year, paid research internship this year as part of a rigorous life sciences program.
Plans: I am going to be volunteering at an arts workshop for cancer patients this summer and hope to portray the sort of liberal arts/STEM qualities Brown looks for.
Any advice? I would absolutely love to be accepted to PLME but that is so insanely competitive, I would love Brown as an undergraduate school as well- Any alumni advice on how to improve ECs/chances would be extremely helpful.
Keep up the high achieving good work & hope for a little bit of luck.
IMO, Brown is the hippest and least mainstream of the Ivies. It values particular talent, people who think outside the box, intellectualism. Show them you have those qualities and you might get lucky.
How would I show them I have these qualities? For intellectualism- I’m trying to publish some research papers and I don’t really know what my particular talent is- all my ecs are related to health and stem so would that work?
There is no one answer – or else others would have figured it out. All you can do is do your best in the most rigorous curriculum you can handle, be involved in and outside of the classroom and give it your best shot like everyone else.
While you have impressive accomplishments, I will warn you as I would anyone else that it is a huge mistake to pin your hopes on one hyper-competitive colleges. Be sure to seek out other match and safety schools that you would be happy to attend.
Hey I’m a student at Brown and the PLME, and made a video to help! Check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9GlJreTrec
