How can I get into UIUC? What can I do to increase my chances?

Whenever I do apply, Im applying to become a Physics major.
I am only at the beginning of my Sophmore Year. My UW GPA is 3.87, W GPA is 4.1. I am taking the most rigorous courses my school has to offer.
(EC's for freshman and beginning of Sophmore Year):
Chorus Ensemble (Mezzo Soprano section leader)
Handbells Ensemble
Talent Show (performer and coach)
Key Club (many volunteer hours)
Latin Club
Science Olympiad
Science Club (leadership role)
thINc (Science Competition) (team leader)
Math and Science tutor (school)
I also am a math and science tutor for unfortunate kids at my Church every week
Won Major Science award for Powerpoint on the properties of Oil
Cross Country Runner
Track and Field Runner (Varsity, regional team)
Church Youth Group
Praise team (Praise Band)
I also have many service hours with my church as well as my school.

I also plan on joining The National Honors Society as well as the National Science Honors Society. And I also hope to accomplish bigger things with the ECs listed above. How do you think I can improve my chances for admission at UUIC. Am I off to a good start?

You’re off to a fantastic start. Make sure to keep up the grades if not increase them this year, and most importantly Junior Year (Dont slack off Senior Year either). Colleges like UIUC want to see an upward trend in GPA. Definitely continue participating in your Extracurriculars, because you have a great list. As long as you continue on this path and perform well on ACT/SATs, your into Physics @ UIUC no doubt.

Really, just really  You are pretty much guaranteed to get in if you keep that up. Good luck in physics though, its my worst class. Then again, pretty much every ChemE hates physics, that’s why we are ChemEs.

Thank you guys! That makes me feel better! :D
