All right, this is going to sound stupid, so brace yourselves.

When I decided to go to Bing, I was under the impression that my mom was going to drive me up on move-in day (basically because she SAID she was driving me...) even though she doesn't drive on highways much. Or at all, really. Anyway, now she's flaking out on me and not driving me up there. My friend, who's also going to Bing, is going up early for some reason and told me she didn't have enough room in her car to take me anyway.

So my question is...how can I get to my school? Haha. God I feel like such an idiot for not having a ride to my own school, lol.

I live near NYC (though not that close so a trip down there wouldn't be the most convenient). Would the bus be pretty much my only choice?

Also, is there a certain time that you have to move in by on move-in day?

i think a bus is going to be your best bet. you should check with res life as to whether there is a time frame for moving in – they have people to help carry your things on move in day, but if you are coming by bus, you may not have that much.

one good thing – because of how labor day and rosh hashana fall this year, the school is closed for the entire week 9/4-9/12 – which means you’ll probably go home (the dorms close) and be able to bring more stuff back.

ask your friend if she’ll be driving home and back for that week break and if she’d have room for you and your things-- if so, it might make bringing the bulk of your stuff up easier.

You could also try shipping some stuff if you really had to. Or ask around to see if any of your friends could bring at least a box or something of your stuff, so that you can get it from them later on once you’re moved in. The nice thing about taking a bus up is that you’ll be packing lighter and therefore bring less stuff that you don’t really need. I often find myself over packing and bringing way too much, which is a problem at the end of the year. Also keep in mind that during the year, it’s REALLY convenient to get to and from school from NYC, we have a student run bus company, ESCAPE who runs busses holidays, and most weekends! Yay for self-promotion. I work for the company!

Is your friend a freshmen? I hope you do know that Bing has this stupid policy which forbids freshmen from having a car (you just can’t park it on campus).
