How can I Improve my application

I realise everyone on here is Ivy set, but Im not there.

Im a sophmore in highschool
My Freshman year I didnt do very well, Im not sure what my gpa was but it probably around a 3.1-3.3, I took all honors classes though, and went to an IB school thats suppose to be pretty hard.

I transferred and now im at my public highschool, which is still a good school.
We have trimesters,
First tri I got a 3.6,
APSUH: A
Spanish 2: A
Honors Chem: A
Web Design: A
Algebra 2: C+

Im in my second tri and things are looking okay, I have a D in Algebra…but I have plenty of time to being it up

I run track and am a varsity figure skater for my school. I am on the MUN team and the Forensics team. But I dont excel in any of these areas. I havent won any awards or anything like that.
Im going to run for captain of the skating team and the MUN team and hope I can get a leadership position next year, but Im not really sure how much that would help.
Would my skating team making it to states have any effect on my standings at all?

How can I show im well rounded and have achievments and all that? I used to play the piano and am thinking of taking that up again. They have competitions I can get trophys for, but theyre not very hard and Im not sure how impressive that would be.

What can i do to make my forensics/MUN more impressive. Is it enough to participate or do I need to win something?

Do you know of any essay competitions or anything even a little but close to that that I could enter?

Also is AP Physics more impresisve than AP bio or ap chem? Or do colleges nit have a preference?

Thanks

Well, where would you be applying? What do you want to major in? No one can tell you anything without knowing where you’re considering. Without your SAT or ACT score, though, it’ll still be a lot of guessing. And definitely bring up that D!

Being “well-rounded” is kind of a stereotype at this point that colleges are starting to shy away from. The best way to develop your extracurriculars is to attain a leadership position and/or state/national awards in one specific one that you develop a lot of time to. It makes you look more driven and focused than if you’re just a member of two dozen random clubs.
