How can I improve my chances of getting in?

I am a sophomore in high school, and while early, I think U Washington is my top school so far. Here are my stats:

Freshman UW: 3.4

Sophomore Weighted (so far): 3.35

ECs:

-Member of cyber security team
-Member of Model UN
-Member of Drama club
-I am looking to get an internship, as well as to begin volunteering at my local animal shelter.

Courses:
I have taken the most challenging courses I could take my first two years, and will continue to do so. Last year, I took three honors classes, this year I took two honors and one AP, and next year I am taking three APs, as well as one honors course.

I will obviously try to improve my GPA, but assuming I improve to have say a 3.5 next year, what SAT scores will I need to have a decent shot at attending?

Thanks to anyone who helps me out ahead of time, if there are any tips on specific things UW likes to see, please let me know.

I would say that you should definitely get that GPA up (I would aim for 3.6 if you can) and if you get a GPA around 3.5-3.6, your SAT score should be pretty solid (I’d say like 1900+). But UW looks a lot at the unweighted GPA, so I would try to bring that GPA up as much as possible. I would also get an internship and start to do more volunteer work. Maybe look into starting a club to show leadership? It’s good that you’re taking challenging courses, and I would continue to take those. I’ve heard from multiple sources that UW looks a lot at the unweighted GPA and the essays, but I would just try to be well-rounded and have strong aspects in all areas. Good luck!

Service work is a must. And take a look at the essays. Think about what you’d want to present in them and gain some experience to enhance those areas. As for GPA UW is known to look for grade trends, so keep working to edge your grades up and show that positive trade trend. Good luck!
