How can i improve my CR speed?

Right now, I am taking 30 minutes to finish the 25 min sections, but I get them all right (except a few vocabs sometimes). I want to be able to finish in 20 minutes and eventually 15 before the January test, what can I do?

Same here… I am really struglling with the time aspect of the cr and I am taking the test in january… any suggestions???

From my personal experience all you need is to practice skimming (speed reading) and make a worthy answering technique .That’s what I use - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/173144-sat-cr-technique-works.html

The more you read, the faster your reading becomes. That’s how it worked for me  . It is often suggested to read sopshicated magazines and newspapers , since CollegeBoard often put excerpts of articles in their tests.

Ignore the details. Seriously, as simple as that. Unless the question refers you to a referenced part of the passage, in which you should obviously take note of the details, there is absolutely no need to focus carefully on everything being stated. I know, it’s difficult, because it goes against our conventional methods of reading, which goes along the lines of reading and taking in everything as carefully as possible. But that’s how it is on the SAT, you need to skim, and read critically (aka read for the main ideas and points, and not for details). Practice is the way to go my friend.

To help you improve, we need to know your current process. How do you approach a standard CR passage & questions?

Right now, I use Silverturtle’s method.

I actually read the first and last sentences of a passage and then move into the questions (specific ones) and then I do the general passage questions… Any suggestions to improve my speed??? cause i am getting my answers correct mostly

Practice doing sections with less time than usual. Like for 25 minute sections, only give yourself 22 minutes.
