Given the importance of human creativity, one would think it should have a high priority among our concerns. But if we look at the reality, we see a different picture. Basic scientific research is minimized in favor of immediate practical applications. The arts are increasingly seen as dispensable luxuries. Yet as competition heats up around the globe, exactly the opposite strategy is needed.

<pre><code>As the world progresses more and more to become a more scientific and logical society, creativity is needed more than ever to balance it. Although it may seem that creativity has become useless in many fields today, it is nonetheless a significant part of our life. The field of theoretical physics is one example. We can also look to our past to find examples that exemplify the need for creativity.
At a glance, it seems the physics is the last place where creativity would be needed. It is full of formulas, laws, theorems all of which seem to be set in stone. But contrary to what it may seem like, physics is actually very dependent on creativity and imagination. Take, for example, theoretical physics. It takes creativity to be able to think outside the box, beyond the limits of established, everyday truths. String theory and chaos theory are two very new concepts that creativity has bought us. Jackson von Norman, an early pioneer in this field, was once described as a crazy person, because his imagination ran wild. It takes this kind of creativity, albeit on a less extreme level, to come up with new concepts.
Examples like this are not only limited to todays world. If we look back, and examine the innovations and inventions in history, it becomes clear that creativity played a part in most, if not all, of them. Isaac Newton and his theory of gravity, Galileo and his idea that the earth revolved around the sun, not the other way around. The most prominent example would be the assembly line. Just like physics, manufacturing appears to be a field with no place for creativity. Yet Henry Fords daring experiment would still with his new idea turned out to be a monumental success. Without creativity, then the same, slow process of manufacturing would still be used today, and our lives would be very different.
Examples the support my view are ubiquitous in our history and everyday life. If you take a closer look at them, then you will surely realize that creativity is very necessary in the world today. It will take creativity and innovation overcome all the challenges we have today: global warming, world hunger, AIDS pandemic
All of these will not be solved with old ideas and ways of thinking.
