How can I improve my grades?

Hi. I’m not your typical “intelligent” person here however I would like to know how to become one.

I’m a first year nursing student at a 4 year college. Average grades would be high C’s and Bish. I would like to know how to improve my grades.

I received my grade for my paper (Developmental Professions class) and it was a 15/20. I would honestly say; I did work hard on this paper with many revisions. I went to the student learning center and even to office hours. For the paper, I understand where grammar points got taken off, however I don’t understand where “development concept” got taken off. If you would like to read it, and give me comments, feel free to ask for it.

However, my main problem, there are times when I just feel like I did an assignment really well, or even an exam. However, sometimes i would receive a lower grade than I expect. However, there are even times when I just rush my assignment or don’t know anything; I would get a high grade. Now, please don’t tell me, that for me to succeed I need to not care. Or don’t tell me that I am trying too hard. I know I’m not.

My question is.. for something that I really tried really hard on, I still get low grades… Can you relate to it? Can you give me advice on how to improve?

I don’t know much about nursing…but you can visit your college’s writing centre if yuo have problems. Personally I think that writing is just a natural thing for people. If you are good at it you will be good in all Humanities classes, if you aren’t like me, then go major in Science.

Definitely go into the writing center. You might also consider a basic English course that will help you with the grammar basics.
If you want to improve your gpa asap, take an easy A class that fulfills your major.

If you don’t understand why you’re losing points for something, maybe you could take that assignment in and talk about it with your professor. It sounds to me like you’re putting in the effort, so maybe reviewing some past assignments and why your grade wasn’t as high as you expected could give you some insight as to what you could improve on.
