Does anyone have any tips or advice?

Read books… and not Twilight or Dan Brown.

memorize words
learn grammar

FreeRice for vocab
IDK grammar

Read books broski. Twilight is bomb Gryffon.

As other said, just read a lot.

Of course it’s best to read higher literature than Twilight and Dan Brown, but I actually think (at least for grammar, probably not vocab so much) that you’ll be better off if you can just read a lot rather than take forever with one difficult book.

Don’t read grapes of wrath if you want grammar

Oh ok, Sounds simple lol. I disliked reading books when I was young. Now i know.

Read read read. Learning words in context is considered more effective than memorizing lists, and will also help your grammar, which lists of words will not.

If you have a hard time slogging through some of the classics, take a look at this list

[ALA | 2010 Best Books for Young Adults](http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/yalsa/booklistsawards/bestbooksya/bbya2010.cfm)

and if that doesn’t suit you, try any of the hundreds of other lists on the Young Adult Library Services Association. Hey, who would know better than librarians, right?
