How can I improve my performance on the AP Lang/Comp Test?

Hello,
My Ap Lang/Comp class regularly takes practice tests that coordinates with the actual AP test that we'll be taking in the future. I'm having a problem with the whole process of taking the test though, it's so hard. I always find myself going too slow, and reading a question at least 5 times, referring back to the passage, and rereading the question, and repeating the process.

I just cannot seem to comprehend the question. I usually understand the rhetorical strategies and the vocabulary, but it's just the comprehension. Especially the questions that ask which of the following is not used to increase the effect of blah blah blah. I find myself reading one of the answer choices, referring back to the passage, reading the answer choice again, and referring back to the passage to make sure I didn't miss it, and going through that with all five answers; so, it ends up taking me at least 5 minutes to answer a single problem!

I haven't even improved since the start of the semester! I always score around 40-50%, and it really bugs me how I just cannot improve. My class is taking a semester exam this Friday, which will be a mock version of the AP exam. How can I do better at the multiple choice section?

Don't worry, I was the same way and ended up getting a 3 on the AP exam. Trying skimming over the questions before you read so you have an idea what to look for. Also, do selective underlining as you read.
