I am a senior and I'm taking AP Biology. I never passed a AP Biology Mulitple Choice test ever!! Never gotten a D! :(
I study the night before every test but the problem is that it doesn't stay in my head. Once I study my notes...the information slips out of my mind! I don't know..maybe it's too much information crammed into my head..because AP Biology requires a lot of remembering and it just isn't getting into my head. I have to study about 3-4 chapters for every test and that's too much! I'm so overwhelmed! Plus, I have to study for the essay questions too. What can I do to improve on the AP Biology multiple choice tests?! What are some good ways to study for subjects like AP Biology that requires remembering vast amount of information?
I really need some help cuz I'm failing the class and I need to pass every class for this second semester. Please give me some tips to improve my test scores!! thanks!

bump..someone please reply to my thread!

First things first!

relax

2nd

review your notes and book progressively
ask a friend for help!

study online via the internet

you'll be fine bt don't panick!

grow a brain...literally...in a vat of liquid medium

If you use Campbell, and your book comes with a CD...

... take the CD and use the "flash cards" for the chapters you're working on...

... memorize all the terms....

... rinse and repeat.

My class sounds very similar to yours. I haven't done so well on the Ap Biology test either, at least how well I would like.

read the outlines on course-notes.org. skip the textbook.

MARK UP YOUR OUTLINES LIKE CRAZY!!!! write in margins, highlight key terms, etc. i feel that actively reading the outline really helps. i only read the outline once, but a pen and highlighter are always at my hand.
i usually get one or two MC questions wrong (out of 50+), and i'm sure it's because of my active reading of the outline. there are kids in the class who use the textbook and study after they read and get 60-70s.

do u mean that u START studying the night before...?

^ best strategy ever, since the material is fresh in your head when you go to take the test...

another tip: study 5min before the test also so the material is even fresher

yes I meant that I study the night before the test..

lmao, mcb-i assume that's sarcasm.

twilightgirl-these 3-4 chapter tests r NOT meant for night-before cramming. they're meant to take after weeks of reading+preparing, every night, since the first night u start the new chapter. good luck : )

I never study in the few minutes before a test. It just crowds out useful stuff you actually know.

I use course notes. I don't remember if it's .org or .com and I'm a bit lazy atm but before I read the chapter I look at their slideshows and their outlines. Then I read the chapter and do all the practice questions. Our school also provided the Study Guide 7th Edition book for us too which has a lot of practice Questions. Yeah so I go through all that stuff, then at the end I go on the campbell's CD and go through EVERYTHING. The activities, videos and quizzes and eventually it all sticks. I know it sounds like a lot for each indidual chapter (since you said your tests are 3-4 chapters) but it really helps.

^ wowwwww. where do you get all the time????

it's course-notes.org
it's the only thing that i use (see my above post). i did read the textbook in the beginning but found the outline so much more useful. i do look over diagrams and pictures though.
cramming is a great strategy. works for me every single time.

idk. I'm really lazy with everything else but AP Bio is the one class I don't want to mess up in. our teacher also assigns a lot of the stuff from the CD and study guide so if i do it all at once at the beginning of the chapter, i have no hw when she assigns it :D
