I’m a big STEM person but I’ve always really enjoyed art and have done quite a few drawings just with pencil and paper from time to time, and I think I’ve gotten pretty good at it. Not fantastic compared to other people who are really passionate about art and practice it, but one of the better ones in my school. The thing is I haven’t made anything more impressive than a pencil drawing so I don’t have any good material for a portfolio, and I’d like to include art somehow on my resume to show how it’s been a big deal in my life. What’s the best way to do this? I’ve been thinking of just making a portfolio through AP Studio Art, but are there any special extracurriculars I could do to help my art life stand out?
- Are there other art classes in your HS you could take?
- Does your town have adult art classes you could take?
- Are there private art teachers?
Have you thought about architecture as a major?
@bopper I could take other HS classes but I won’t have the space in my schedule. I’m mostly interested in things like contests or galleries I could participate in to show off, which I could do alongside AP studio art to develop my technique
I would talk to my art teacher and ask about local opportunities for art shows…in our town we have an Arts Center, and there are arts guilds and the like.
