How can I increase my chances of getting into RSI?

I am really lacking in EC's. Here is my record so far as I can recall:

I'm enrolled in the IB program at CGHS in Miami. Ethnicity:Asian-Indian
Academics: PSAT; math:73, critical reading:62, writing:75
SAT I:1430 Math:700 Verbal:730
SAT II: Molecular Biology:610, Math IIC:610, Chemistry:640
AP: Biology:4, Calculus AB:3, Chemistry:3, AP European History:4
GPA:3.9, weighted-4.9; top 5%

EC's, hobbies, awards, etc.: In 9th grade, my biology teacher gave me a positive referral to the principal for the highest grade point average in his class, principal's honor award for academic acievement, Honor Roll, Perfect Attendace *, Youth Fair Essay Contest (3rd place) *, treasurer in Republican Society Club *, President and founder of Peer Counseling *
IB Honor Society, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Amnesty, Future Business Leaders of America. I tutor other students in math and science.

Hobbies and other notable things (I hope so!): I attend CME meetings (medical meetings/conferences for doctors seeking board certification) with my dad, I am a huge fan of the weather channel (I try to track hurricanes myself based on what I see occuring on the satellites and according to the atmospheric set-up, I also log onto and chat with meteorologists on this weather chatroom called storm2k), I am very interested in aviation (I visit aviation websites such as flightlevel350.com, and I have even e-mailed an air traffic controller I know at the Newark (EWR) airport tower), have taken special interest in lucid dreaming, astral projections, bio-science, and "The Experimental Neuromagnetic Signal Generator" and have been lucky enough to have taken part in the lucid-dreaming overnight experiment (no success though!), I play tennis, learning Hindi at home and have taken a trip to India to learn about its culture.

*Indicates things I haven't done yet but plan to do in the near future.

By the way, have people in the past made up any of their EC's on their applications to RSI? And if I don't get accepted, I was thinking of doing an NIH internship. Would that look as good on my resumer to Columbia?

Rank from a scale of 1 (worst) to 10 (best) the following in raising my chances for being accepted into Columbia: RSI, NIH internship, or Columbia summer precollege program (at Columbia University, of course!).
Thanks for your advice! I personally see the summer program at Columbia doubly advantageous because it shows them that I can withstand their challenging molecular biology/genetics course and that I have taken special interest in their college. What do you guys think?

Could someone please reply? I don't have many other people to ask for advice...even my brother is not willing to lend me much advice. My parents may not like the idea of me going out of Florida and may not lend much support either. I really would appreciate any advice. Even a 1 sentence reply is great!

RSI best. Other than that, I have no idea about the NIH institute but I'd venture a guess at the Columbia one as better, for the reasons you pointed out.

I am a Grade 11 student who are thinking about applying RSI. This discussion was edited about 10 years ago, so you may have already graduated from the university. Anyway, if you can see this piece of reply, could you please give me some advice on applying RIS?

Since you are new here, please note that you should not revive old threads for discussion! Old threads are for information only. I believe you have missed the RSI deadline for international students already. The domestic student deadline was Jan 27th. Good luck!
