How can I increase my knowledge of business?

I am only in high school but I am interested in Business. I want to learn about how stocks, investment firms (banking, hedge funds, trading) and wall street work. Are there any good resources (books, websites etc.) which I can use to increase my knowledge?

Yes!

First of all, see if you can take some business/economics classes at a local university. You'll not only be exposed to new ideas, but your peers will be able to tell you a lot about business.

Second of all, ask relatives/friends/parents about things. Some of them probably know more than you think they do.

The internet is the best resource of all. This time last year I knew nothing about investing, now im trying to start a fund. Download stock market and forex simulators. Search up finance on the internet, learn definitions, look at charts to apply these new applications and definitions. finance.yahoo.com is an AWESOME resource for charts (they have great tech. analysis charts) and its free. go to www.fxcm.com and dl the forex software (after you learn what you are doing of course), check out www.briefing.com and look at the economic news and what effect they have on the markets. Also, take a look at some banks' websites like Golman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, UBS, etc.. and look at what they specialize in. Search up these divisions on google . If you REALLY want to learn about finance and business, you will and the internet is an excellent resource.
GoodLuck!

"Second of all, ask relatives/friends/parents about things. Some of them probably know more than you think they do."

thats very true. i never knew my mom knew so much about the many business fields, even though shes just an accountant for boeing. she had so much info that it was too much for me to absorb at once. and everything i just recently heard of, she knew already

I think it's a great experience for college-age kids to play around with a little bit of money through an online brokerage (that is, if they have a bit of cash to spare). The idea is not to make a killing in the market, but rather to acquire a feel for how investing works. Once you have a small stake, you will almost certainly read up on current market conditions. Whether or not you gain money, you've learned invaluable lessons.

Start reading the Wall Street Journal.

Start reading the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, and Fortune. (Skip "Forbes" - it's the "People Magazine" of the business world.)

Haithman some day we are going to have to go into business together

Maybe man maybe (lol do i know you?). Btw you can IM me via s/n in profile.
