How can I make myself competitive for the U.S. Service Academies (U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy)? I am a freshman at a top private college preparatory high school in my area. I am currently involved in student government. I volunteer once a week at the local public library. I am participating in my school's drama production. I was a judge at the local elementary school's science fair. I am a member of my Church's youth group. I am not involved with my school's athletic program, but I do kickboxing on the weekends. My current GPA is 3.3, and I am taking two honors classes, Honors Geometry and Honors Chemistry (which is usually taken by eleventh graders at my school). For next year, I signed up for two Honors courses, Honors Biology and Honors Algebra II, and an AP course, AP World History. Any advice?

make sure your SAT/ACT grades are above average.
Class ranks >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GPA.

Are you younger or equal to 15? If so, check out Boy Scouts. You can still join (assuming age is ≤15, my friend was a Sophomore in high school when he started and he got his Eagle in the beginning of his Senior yr.

West Point credits 60% of your admissions file towards academics, so your GPA and SAT/ACT scores are extremely crucial. 30% is attributed to extra-curriculars and leadership roles, which sports, clubs, and boy scouts can offer. The last 10% that’s counted is your performance on the CFA. I’d advise to read over it and give it a practice run, then improve what you need to by comparing your scores with the averages. West Point is physically challenging; when I went to SLS it was only a little taste of what CBT would be like and it’ll definitely be rigorous.
