<p>One other thing about the job. Retail may be too much social interaction. Why not try something where you have some people contact but not constant contact where you are expected to engage and be friendly, such as in a retail sales job. I like the idea of being a stock person, maybe a landscaper, or some type of back room job like the dishwasher. You still will have to interact with everyone you work with, just not lots of new people all the time. What about a job with your city? I know our city hires lots of kid to help out in the summer especially.</p>
<p>Another thought on pushing yourself with a retail job – it might work out better for you to take a less stressful job and find a volunteer position that stretches you socially but is only a few hours per week (and maybe you could increase as you got more comfortable with it). That way your actual job would be less at risk, and you could extend yourself more gradually in a less stressful way.</p>
