How can I request for a term change?

I was admitted into Summer B and would like to request to change it do Fall term, how do I do this?

you should call them and ask.

Dang I have the exact opposite problem. I was admitted to Fall but want summer term B. All I did was email them and then they said that they would put me on a list and would mid notified by mid- May.

UMcane, just be aware that when you get on that list to change from Fall to summer B, you may not get on-campus housing. Last year, my S did the exact same thing as you until he talked to someone in housing and they told him that all the other summer b people will be picking housing first, and his name would be at the bottom of the list after all the people who originally signed up for summer b housing. If you don’t mind a triple or living off campus, it is not a problem. But, my S definitely wanted on campus housing for summer B, so took his name off the list and stayed with Fall admission. He was happy that he stuck with Fall admission.

yeah thats the only thing I am worried about is the housing. But I am just going to do off campus housing for the summer and then do on campus housing for the fall. I have a car but idk how parking on the campus works? Does anyone know? I mean they have to have on campus parking for those who live off campus. The drive and traffic may be a b**** but the parking cant be as bad as UCFs now that is just rediculous.

UMcane…there is virtually one tiny lot (you have to get up way early to get a spot) for off campus students. You may be able to park near Shands and take a bus to class. Nearly all off campus students ride the buses which go to most all of the popular apartment complexes. Bikes are an option. Lots of kids have scooters (under 50cc do not require insurance) because there is an abundance of scooter parking all over campus. There are private companies that you can pay to park there,

Here is the site for UF parking…good luck…off campus has the fewest spots…much worse that UCF…sorry!

Oh man then I guess it looks like I may be taking the bus to class. haha. Hopefully it wont be too bad I think off-campus housing would be better bc its better than nothing, right? I am still gonna be living there for fall just not summer. 2 months? I think I can handle it. But lets hope I dont regret saying this later. lol

UMCane, there are some apartments within walking distance from campus so parking isn’t a problem and you don’t need to take a bus. My D is at Jefferson 2nd Ave, but there are more to check into. They are still less expensive than dorms and you’ll have a full kitchen and washing machine/dryer right in your apartment.

My D was in a similar situation and while waiting for a term change and the negative impacts that had on housing, we decided that going off-campus was the way to go.

Thank you for the info!

so did your daughter do of campus housing for summer and then go to on campus for the fall or did she just stay off campus?

My D was admitted for spring, but wants to live near campus and get involved in the activities. We are looking at Windsor Hall because she wants to rush if she is changed to fall. If she starts in the spring then she’ll have to wait, but at least she’ll be near the action. Any opinions?

UM the buses are really efficient. The fare is included in your tuition so the people riding the bus are like 90% students and I think most routes come every 10-15 mins? Mine comes every 10 mins during the day and is fast considering it’s public transportation.

UMcane, my daughter stayed at Jefferson and didn’t even pursue the dorms even though she probably would have gotten into one eventually. The apartments are so much nicer and most will want you to sign a full year lease. So they gave her the summer free and she stayed. She’ll be in her 3rd year next year and is staying at Jefferson.

So is term changing not an advisable decision for an incoming freshman overall?

ralphsprandel…term changing is fine, but housing is a concern if you switch from Fall to summer b…then you will choose housing after all the summer b’s choose and you may not get on campus housing. If you switch terms, you may get put on the bottom of the housing choice list. If you do not want on campus dorms, this is not a concern.
