How can I send the transcript if i went to several schools?

Hi guys. I’m an international student and I went to grade 9 in a Korean middle school and grade 10 first semester in a Korean highschool.

Then I moved to Canada and I am planning on sending applications to us universities via common app.

But since I am really new to application process and have barely anyone to help me(including the counselor) I am really stuck. :frowning:

The education systems are really different for these countries. Grade 9 doesn’t count as part of high school in Korea and in Canada, they do consider grade 9 as part of high school but Canadian highschools don’t really include grade 9 marks in their official transcripts. Also, my grade 10 grades aren’t that great so I retook several courses in Canada.

So the question is,

  1. Do i still have to send my grade 10 grades from Korean high school even if all those grades (including retaken knes) are included in the official transcrip in Canada?
  1. I already have a photocopy of my grade 9 and 10 grades translated in english by an institution because i needed one to come to canada. Can i send the transcripts directly or do i have to go through the entire process again?

Sorry i am rambling but i would really appreciate you guys’ help.

You will need to have official copies of all of your records sent. Yes, I know that is a drag, but it is the rule. Check with each college and university on your list, and find out if they need an official record from the Korean school where you attended 9th grade or just the Korean school where you attended 10th grade. Ask each place about the translations that you have already, or if they will need new ones. Some might.

Many students who move from one country to another find that they need to repeat classes because the courses are somewhat different in each country. Don’t worry about the courses that you had to retake.

Wow i see. That’s complicated…cuz my official transcripts are with my parents who are in Korea. I guess i have to ask

No, your Korean high school has to send the transcripts, not your parents.

But it has to be translated into english right. By an institution or sumthing?

Either the school will translate with their own methods or will ask you to use 3rd party.

It depends on each school

These all depends on the school you wish to attend to but @happymomof1 is right, you have to abide by the rules. Most schoold would definitrly need to see your documents so you’ll have to do the process done in Canada I’m afraid
