that might not be the most helpful, but try to show your aptitude for the material covered in an industrial engineering major, look at curriculum online as this will help
Join science and math clubs/organizations. If possible, try to land an engineering internship, look into summer programs
Take the highest math courses available to you. Take physics and chemistry.
In your essays, describe how you were able to figure out how to do some tasks more efficiently. E.g. how you mowed the lawn while minimizing moving the mower over unneeded places (already mowed areas, non-grass areas, etc.) and where you placed the compost bin so that you can quickly empty the bag in it when it gets full.
