How can I still enjoy sports after high school?

This is probably the wrong board but I didn't know where else this would fit.

So here's the deal: I run cross-country and track (100, 200) in high school and I actually enjoy doing both of them. Unfortunately I doubt I'm good enough to pursue either of them at the DIII level (my 5k time in xc is just under 20, I might just make varsity sprinting senior year) and even if I was, academics is still my priority in college and I don't want EC's to take time away from that.

In any case, I'm just wondering how some of you guys might enjoy sports after high school. It's probably easier with basketball and soccer since there can always be pick-up games, but for running I doubt I'll be able to run in competitive races outside of college athletics.

Please don’t do what a junior I know is planning.

Instead of going to a four year she’s going to a junior college so she can continue volleyball. Seems like a huge waste of time to me.

But on your issue, I know my area has a triathalon training club. They all get together and run and watch diets and what not in prep for local races. Maybe where you will be will have one. Check around.

I’m pretty sure there will be some kind of club wherever you go that you can run with. There are a lot of XC runners that won’t want to quit
