WHAT DO I DO? I just realized the requirement to rush a frat in the spring is 14 credit hours not 12. I had to drop a class because I was struggling a lot with the material and there was nothing I could do!!? I want to rush so bad I will transfer out if I can’t i have wanted to so for so long. Is there anything I can do??? Im a freshman obviously. I absolutely refuse to wait until fall 2019 I can’t. Please is there anything I can do.
Do you have any AP credits from high school? They may let you count those. Is there a winter minisession either at Penn State or at one of your local colleges? Online course?
@twoinanddone I have many AP credits but I read that they do not count! I have no clue about winter session, def no local colleges. Online is a possibility but I don’t know if they count! I’m freaking out!
@jlhpsu @bodangles any info???
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the rushing fraternity requirements are pretty clear:
“Must have earned 14 PSU credit hours AND a 2.5 cumulative GPA OR transfer students must have 27 transfer credit”.
So since you only have 12 credits, you will not be able to rush spring. They make these rules so that you are in good academic standing with a certain number of credits before you join a fraternity. Since you dropped that class, you fall below the cutoff and you will have to wait until fall to rush. Honestly, they were talking about not letting freshmen rush at all and I think that’s a better way to go anyway.
I understand you are upset, but your choices are to either transfer out or wait. I’m not sure transferring helps you at all though. I am sure other universities have similar rules - you can’t just start at a school and join their fraternities. Most have similar rules as Penn State and you would need credits at their school or more credits as a transfer.
I’m sorry you are learning this the hard way.
