<p>If you have a portal at the admissions sites of the universities, sometime you can decline the offer of admission there.</p>
<p>If you received an actual acceptance letter–on paper and everything–it probably came in a very big envelope full of other papers. One of those was probably a card or a sheet you can mail back to decline their offer.</p>
<p>Or you can send them email, or a letter in the U.S. Mail. All it needs to say is, “Thank you for the offer of admission to [name of college]. I have decided to attend [name of other college].” And sign it, with enough information for them to be able to identify you.</p>
