how can i transfer up from vanderbilt/davidson

into an ivy league, possible princeton or dartmouth.

i know transferring into a similar caliber school (notre dame, etc) will be quite easy if i dont like vanderbilt, but what about transferring up a level? how hard will that be for me?

Transferring to an ivy is harder than getting in out of high school. If you didn’t get in the first go around, you probably wont as a transfer, unless you get a 4.0 (which will be near impossible at vandy/davidson)

…sounds like a challenge ;)? lol no if its that hard i just wont keep my hopes up when i apply. I figured an ivy would realize how impossible it is to get a 4.0 at one of those schools i mentioned, and cut me a break with some 3.8+ GPA.

if not, ohh well i guess im stuck

I don’t think you should go into college with the attitude that you’re going to be “stuck” at the school. You should focus on enjoying and thriving at either vanderbilt or davidson, which offer two of the best undergraduate programs in the country. I don’t mean to demoralize you, but getting a 3.8 at Davidson is severely challenging. So if getting perfect grades is the most important factor for you, you should go to Vanderbilt. I’m curious as to why you’re so intent on “transferring up” from these schools. Do you have concrete reasons why you need to be at an ivy without even experiencing what these two fantastic colleges have to offer? Or is it just the allure of the name?
I’m sorry if I come across as cruel. Davidson is close to my heart, and I’m a little frustrated by the fact that you seem to view it merely as a springboard to a more “prestigious” university. I understand the draw to the ivy league, but I guarantee you’ll get the same quality education–or even better–at Davidson. But if that’s not your concern, and you’re convinced that you need the ivy league, then spend your first year doing nothing but work, and you’ll probably pull off a good GPA that will give you a chance at dartmouth/princeton.

I just happened upon this thread. I hate to be a necromancer, but Princeton doesn’t accept transfer students.
