4 classes are 16 credits, so how are we able to take 5 in a semester?

There are a lot of classes that are 1 or 2 credits each. Also, most of the higher level classes in stern are only 3 credits. So, very possible to end up with 5 classes a semester.

kyang: arent upper level classes harder and more of a time commitment? could you explain why those classes are worth only 3 credits?

You can also request to take 20 credits. I have taken 20 credits for most of my semesters at NYU and it is no big deal.

Do you have to pay extra for 20 credits? Also, are you trying to graduate early or something?

Yes, any credits over 18 are extra. I believe that it is $1400 per credit (or something like that... and at that point in tuition costs, the extra $2800 seems practically irrelevant. Some prospectives may be shocked at my financial callousness, but you'll see in time.

But, yes - 20 credits has just always seemed a better use of my time, and by the time I graduate I'll have eliminated a semester. That plus summers has also shifted my projected graduation date from January 2009 to August 2007.

Wow. That's great. How much are summer classes generally?

I get the feeling I'll develop your financial callousness as well though considering how big of a debt I'll be going into for NYU.
