<p>This to me is a difficult question to answer. When people generally post what is the best school questions, many answers fall into the category of top-ten schools in the country. Where it seems to me that most of the people who are asking the question might be looking for a lesser known school with a great department.</p>
<p>Anyway, when our family was going through the process, my daughter got some great information talking to professors. She talked to a department head at Georgetown for more than and hour and a half and came out with all kinds of insight. I also e-mailed a couple of department heads and got a response from a guy at Stanford, which I thought was great because two other schools I sent requests to were way down the prestige ranking list. Anyway, if you are interested in a certain major, you might try visiting schools and talking to professors or sending some e-mails. The guy at Stanford was amusing, too, he said that if there was any way possible that my daughter could attend Stanford, she should, but if that wasn’t possible, he named a couple of other schools with good programs.</p>
