I applied to Occidental College and got the MVP invite by email:

Occidental College would like to invite you to participate in our Multicultural Visit Program (MVP) this spring. We know that youve been considering your college choices well before you receive your letters of admission. To that end, we are welcoming competitive applicants to visit our campus here in Los Angeles to see what makes Oxy so distinct. Please choose from one of the following program date:

April 8-10
April 15-17
Click on the links above to find out more about the program and to register for a particular weekend. Reservations must be made no less than two weeks before the visit date. Availability for each weekend is first-come, first-served and by invitation only.

MVP promises to be a thorough and engaging introduction to Occidental. You will have the chance to connect with current students and faculty, attend classes and meet other prospective students from around the country. Additionally, you will be able to explore the various neighborhoods of Los Angeles on our Friday afternoon excursion.

This program is at no cost to you. We will pay for your domestic flight (if you live 150 miles or more from the campus) and will provide you with on-campus accommodations.

We hope to see you in April!

Sincerely,
Pati Pineiro-Goodenberger
Associate Dean of Admission

Visiting my schools was going to be a huge expense for me, so this came as a fantastic opportunity. However, my paranoid self thought: "What if I get rejected before my trip? I'll have to either pay the price of the plane ticket or go anyway. How traumatizing would it be to visit a school I got rejected from?! AHG."

So I emailed the admissions office with my concerns and got this:

Congrats on being invited to Oxy's MVP. We will indeed provide transportation from the airport to the College and back to the airport. On a different note, MVP is an invitation-only program. We would not invite students, cover all of their expenses, and then deny them admission this late in the admission process unless their grades dropped significantly. If you have any other questions, please let me or my colleague Pati (pati@oxy.edu) know. Hope to see you soon.

It makes sense. I even rationalized the same thing beforehand but I kept worrying. I was fine with it yesterday, but I've started worrying again. If you can't tell, I'm a little paranoid. How certain should I be that I got in? I hate this. I just want a letter, but I have to wait until the 25th for that... Anyway, is anyone else going to the MVP visit? I've reserved a spot for April 8th-10th.
