^ I need a 750+. I realize that this is a highly subjective question, but overall how does it rank on a scale of challengingness - compared to other SAT IIs? I got a 740 on the CR with quite a bit of practice. I really need a 750+ on Lit, on the first try, how would you guys suggest I approach this?

Practice I guess. I did it and thought it was challenging, but I ended up getting a 730 ( better than I though I had done). But there really is only a minimal correlation between CR an d lit scores, if at all. I scored an 800 on CR, and yet only a 730 in lit. So don't think that your really good score in CR will mean a really good score in Lit. Good luck

Haha. I scored 740 on CR but 500 on lit. So yeah, don't take lit unless you do real well on practice tests.

I thought it was fairly easy. I got a 790 without practice and before taking AP Lit.

If you are moderately good in analyzing on a scale of 1-10 I'd say it is a 8.5. If you are excellent in analyzing then 5.5. :)

My experience was/is pretty close to megaman123's. I haven't taken the test yet, but did a practice one out of Kaplans without reviewing terms or mentally preparing for it...got a 710, compared to an 800 first time CR score. I get the feeling though, that after a few more practice tests it'll be fairly easy to get an 800 or close to it.

The biggest difference, biggest challenge, and biggest possible hinderance to your getting a good score is the amount of poetry on the test. Can you read and understand poetry of all forms quickly? Are you good at picking up on themes and symbols when the writing is convoluted? When formal syntax is nonexistant? If you are, the test shouldn't be that much (if at all) harder than the CR. If you aren't, it's what you should spend a lot of time studying and practicing.

I'm in the same boat as you...I need a high score on the first time. Are you taking it in October? Either way, good luck.

Literature is hard because you may get a passage/poety selection that you think you understand, or know that you don't, and practically miss all the questions pertaining to that selection.

I think I might do better retaking, due to the extra practice time, but I seriously doubt I'll do it. " I need a high score on the first time" Whats considered a high lit score for an international ( I'm from costa rica)?

i know this is very subjective, but i really do think it depends on the test that you get. i went through the lit test in horrible conditions. wobbly desk, and for the last ten minutes i couldnt really breathe because i had a terrible cold-- i didn't want to move to get a tissue either because then i'd be wasting precious time. with all that done and said, i still got a 740. plus i didn't really "study" for it (i went over the terms the day before) as it was the during the crazy times of jurnior year. yea... lits really not that bad as long as you have an understanding for whats being said.
