How come JHU never cracks the top 10 for the US News Rankings??

I mean its #15, and that's still pretty good, but how come JHU never ends up in the top 10? I've been told all these wonderful things about JHU, and how its has so many stellar programs, then why is it never in the top 10?

I can understand its loses to HYPSM/CalTech/maybe Penn [Wharton I hear is EPIC], but why Columbia/Duke/Chicago/maybe Dartmouth/Cornell/Washington/Northwestern??

Sorry if its asked before....

Why does it matter?

And, for the record, it was ranked 7 in 2000.

USNWR does the score total and JHU is within 2 points of Northwestern, WUSTL, Cornell and within 5 of the top 10. I personally don't consider that to be of much significance. I think USNWR does a pretty decent job with the rankings but IMO they need to be looked at by groupings of schools rather than exact rank.

I agree with ND09. 15? 14? 10? The differences are negligible.

i guess people just want to have the nice "feeling" that they are part of the "top 10" party.

Ugg, and I hate to bring this up...

The new "counselor rankings," which provide the opinionated rankings by high school counselors, ranks JHU at number 9, tied with the California Institute of Technology, University of California--Berkeley, Georgetown University, Northwestern University, Dartmouth College, and University of Pennsylvania

ps, 9<10..char

haha, AdamJaz, I guess you must absolutely HATE rankings, lol ;)

I know it doesn't matter, but yeah its like "JIMMY@KILLARNEY" said...being party of the top 10 parts feels good...

hmmm...#9...now that's a start...

anyway, thanks for the responses guys :)

Those counselor rankings are pretty poor. UChicago 17? Insane. Anyone have the peer review scores?
