Hi, I’m interested in applying to Northeastern, Boston College, Bentley, Babson, Colby, and Boston University
-Public school in Massachusetts, 1000 students - 220 in my class
-School does not rank but I am in top 5%
-4.45 GPA weighted
-Hardest courseload school offers although we could only take AP starting junior year
Junior year schedule: (AP Biology, AP US History, Honors Pre-Calculus, Honors American Literature, Honors Spanish 5, Business Management / Marketing)
My Senior year schedule will be: (AP Economics, AP Calculus, AP Pyschology, AP English Lit, Honors Physics, and two electives)
I have not taken the AP exams yet and my SAT scores will arrive in May
ECs:
-Cross Country: 9, 10, 11 (100 hours each season)
-Winter Track: 9, 10, 11 (100 hours each season)
-Spring Track: 9, 10
-DECA: 11 - Financial Analysis State Qualifier, finished 11th at states, was a voting delegate and lobbied for candidates, attending Leadership Conference at International Conference in Nashville
-Class Council: 10, 11 - Monthly meetings with the principal and teachers to discuss long term goals for the school
-International Club: 10, 11 - Associate President - Organize fundraisers and send out reminders to group club members (~25 hours volunteering)
-Summer Track Camp Volunteering: 2014, 2015 (50 hours total)
-ProgressMe: I dropped spring track to launch a tutoring initative at my school district’s 5th/6th grades schoolstarting early March 2016. Membership grows weekly, and I have attracted new tutors and students each week and plan to expand to the 7th/8th grades school. We provide homework assistance and guidance to students
-NEASC Accreditation Student Aid: Only student representative in the school to aid in creating the school community report for the NEASC accreditation report
-National Honors Society (just inducted)
-Book Buddies: reading to elementary aged kids after school monthly
-Seeking Alpha Contributor: Peform stock market trend analysis and write articles - wrote a piece covering Globus Medical
-Work: I work at a hardware store a few times a week
I will be applying as an economics or finance major
I plan to apply Early Decision to at least one of these schools and Early Action
What do you think…do I have a shot at any of those schools…and any other related or possibly harder schools?
