Hi! I am currently a freshman in college and I am going to start my second semester very soon. I am thinking about transferring to a higher college after one year, but how competitive could I be for those top schools (like Ivies)?

Intended Major: Preferably, business or economics

College Freshman First Semester GPA: 3.93

High School Stats:
3.83 UW GPA, 4.30 Weighted
Top 5% of high school class
SAT: 2230 (750 CR, 750 M, 730 W)
ACT: 32 (35 English, 35 Reading, 32 Math, 24 Science) <--- Never was good in Science -_-
AP Scores: Decent for the most part. One 5, several 4's and 3's, and two fails.
Sat Subject Scores: 740 Math 2C, 690 Lit, 690 US History

If anyone can offer feedback, that'd be appreciated! Thank you!

I’d need more information to tell you accurately. Your scores are fairly low for Ivy (est. SAT 2 Lit and HIst, ACT). But Ivies like a lot more. ECs are HUGE (esp. with leadership). So basically, I don’t know.

Also, some Ivies (at least Princeton) don’t accept transfers.

Also, what school are you transferring from? 3.9 GPA can mean a lot more or less depending on where you go now. I think your HS stats and SAT are fine for transferring, you probably would have been a decent applicant at most of the ivies last year.

Also, essays and ECs are important too, so you really didn’t give us enough information. But from what you’ve posted so far, you have a decent shot. Good luck

@something12345: Thanks for the reply! I actually attend NYU right now. I like it in some ways, but I am still not sure if this is where I want to spend the next four years of my life.

As for ECs, I was president of a World Vision Club in my high school and I participated in marching band for about two years. I also attended mission trips to Mongolia (after graduation) and New Mexico. I don’t know if it’ll help at all, but I also attended mission trips to Cambodia and Egypt before high school though.

i would say your competitive at a lot of schools just as long as you stay away from the Iveys

Well, it’s like what everyone really says about the Ivies. Nobody is GUARANTEED admission, but everyone is qualified to do so. You’ve got as much as chance as anyone, really. Just keep in mind that transferring is more difficult than freshman admissions.
