How Competitive/Chances? Harvard SM Public Health

I applied to an SM track at the Harvard School of Public Health. Has anyone applied or is a current student? Could you please provide any feedback on this program such as % applied/accepted or what the admissions committee deems most important in an application?

My Stats:

3.69 GPA from a top liberal arts college.

Struggled with the new GRE. I don't remember the scores off hand...Verbal and Writing were acceptable, however math was horrible.

I'm hoping the "4.0" SOPHAS calculated as my undergraduate Math/Statistics GPA will help lessen the blow of a low GRE math score. But I'm not sure how this works..

Interests: Minority health disparities and adolescent health in the form of chronic disease (HIV/STD) prevention.

Very strong SOP. Mentioned relevant past experience, future goals, and why Harvard's program is a good fit for me.

Work: I have about 2 years of clinical research experience post graduation in a medical environment.

3 Strong letters of recommendation (current boss who is in the medical field, college adviser/professor, and college professor/community based learning supervisor)

1 published psychology study (part of a group)

Numerous college leadership activities. Including leadership positions in Community-based learning projects (Alcohol/drug awareness, tutoring international children, college prep program for disadvantaged urban youth.)

Accepted: UPitt, New York Medical College, Drexel, BU (merit scholarship), Dartmouth, NYU (merit scholarship).

Based on my stats, what do you think my change is of being admitted to an SM program at Harvard?

Thank you in advance for any input/ thoughts!

Have you checked The Grad Cafe’s admissions results database?

There’s really no way of knowing what your “chances” are for any graduate program, particularly at highly-selective schools such as Harvard. I’d say you look to be a competitive candidate, but… beyond that, it’s hard to say.

If math was “horrible” your chances are not good. For decades, H has had a math cutoff of ~650 (old test), below which they are concerned about your ability to be successful in Biostats and Epi.

I’m supposed to apply for the Scool of Public Health as well. Could you share your experience at Harvard?

Regards!
