How competitive is JHU BME/ Chance me?

I wouldn't normally post a chance thread, but I haven't really seen any kind of numbers regarding BME. From what I've heard its extremely competitive, but I've been unable to find even the admit rate or avg. SAT score. Does anyone have this info? I'd also appreciate it if someone could find examples/stats of students who were admitted into JHU but denied BME.
My stats (I think I've got a reasonable shot at Hopkins, but again I have absolutely no idea regarding BME):
GPA: 96
SAT: 2350(780 Math, 800 Reading, 770 Writing)
SAT2: 800 Math2, 800 Physics, 760 Chem, 770 BioM
AP: 5's on Phys B, APush and Lang, taking BC Calc, Chem, Lit and Euro this year
EC's: Reasonably good, but not going to blow anyone away (captain of a varsity athletics team, various academic activies -- debate, chess, quiz bowl etc...)
Research/Employment: 2 summers of research (Rutgers & Israel Institute of Technology) + TA'd a research class at my school, interned at an RFID manufacturer

Any additional info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think you’ve got a good chance!
And if you apply to the BME program for ED and don’t get in, they won’t bind you so you can decide to pursue BME elsewhere if you choose!

*into the program I mean. They can still accept you to the school without necessarily accepting you into the BME program.

Definitely, you do have a good chance. Ur stats look like mine  Last week I got the letter that I was accepted to JHU BME!
SAT: 2350 (800CR 770M 780M)
SAT II: Math2 800, Physics 800, Spanish W/List. 780
AP (self study): CalBC 5(sub5), Lang Comp 5, Span Lang 5
IB Predict: Span HL 7, Math HL 7, Physics HL 7, Chem HL 7, LangLit SL 7, Business&Man. SL 7
ECs: Some research at Hospital, few captains/leader, varsity sports, android app, some interships blah blah

You do definitely have a good chance, especially is you apply ED, so good luck!

Hi!

This year (2014) 4,500 students applied for a spot in BME. 120 students were accepted. That makes around a 2.7% acceptance rate to JHU BME.

hey livyluhu, any chance you could tell me where you got that statistic (not that I don’t believe it- just that I was looking for that statistic the other day and couldn’t find it)

Anyway, NipTheMushroom, you have impressive credentials and you’ll definitely be a competitive applicant. Can’t say your chances for sure since getting into schools at this level are always a crapshoot with so many qualified candidates applying.

Family friend is a BME professor there and in admissions :)

@livyluhu: Your numbers are incorrect. At the BME presentation I went to, I’m pretty sure the director of the BME program said the acceptance rate was 11-12%. It is definitely not 2.7%. 120 is the target number of attending students. The number of accepted students is higher.

12% was the acceptance rate for the entire undergraduate class this year. That statistic isn’t in regards to solely the BME program

@livyluhu‌
The overall rate for the class of 2018 is 15.1% so that 11-12% may very well represent the BME program’s rate

Well that’s just what one of the professors told me. Go argue with him

At SOHOP I was told that the regular acceptance rate was 15% while BME’s acceptance rate was 11%.

For SOHOP 2016, admissions told us that the regular acceptance rate was 11% while the BME acceptance rate was 7%.
