I've often been told that my HS is highly competitive, but I've also heard that it is on its decline. The school profile was released today, so I will share it with you. Compared to all the great public schools around the country, how much of a leg up would I get if I were to apply to competitive colleges (1-20)?

My unweighted GPA is 3.3 ish.

That's not bad. You should check out the other schools in your area to see how yours compares. If the SAT scores are an average, they are VERY good. My school is considered competitve...the average SAT scores from the 2000-2001 are similar (perhaps a few points lower).

It's definately competitive, but probably not top-25 in California. For example, my Michigan public high school probably beats its numbers, altough I'll only have exact stats next year. For example though, my class alone has 29 national merit semifinalists, 2 ACT perfect scorers, 2 new SAT perfect scorers (and at least 1 old one), 3 PSAT perfects. And it goes on....

very competitive, but not at the VERY top. some publics at the very top do have 1300+ average (old) SAT scores. but i'm also from california, and like many of the other posters here from california, we've seen better. but your high school is still very competitive nonetheless and i'm sure it annually sends many students to top colleges.
