How competitive is Stern??

Hi, I've been reading the posts, but this is my 1st post at CC:)
I was wondering about the difficulty of getting into Stern...
Is it more difficult to get into Stern than to the College of A and S at NYU?
For example, if you had a SAT score of >2100, would you have a decent chance?
Or, is it a crapshoot like at the ivies..
I was really confused, so it would be great if someone could give me advice!
Thanks*

Stern takes about 20% of applicants. It is the hardest of the NYU schools to get into. A >2100 is not a guarantee, but you have a decent chance. You should still apply. If you really want to go, do ED.

Thanks!
I never knew that Stern was that competitive...
Do you know if it's better to have both math and science SAT IIs, or would only math be fine?

They don't require SAT II's, but they "like" to see 3, one of which has to be writing.

The thing is, I don't know if this is true now that there is the new SAT. But this was their policy when I applied. Of course if you're good at a science, why not take the SAT II?

I always thought that tisch was the hardest school to get into at NYU.

tisch is half performance half academics...and different majors have much different acceptance rate. Acceptance rate wise some majors are harder to get into than stern. Grade/SAT wise Stern is the hardest.

I guess I should take a science one as well as a math one..
But, although I'm fairly good at Physics (I have an A in Honors Physics in a Private school), my school doesn't offer AP Physics to juniors, so I didn't take AP this year.. (I'm taking AP physics C next year)
I'm worried that I won't do well on the SATII because we didn't cover thermodynamics and all that stuff:(
What do you guys think??

Argh... I never thought Stern was the hardest to get in Grade/SAT wise..
Do they offer SAT stats for particular schools with in NYU? (not just the general SAT avg. for NYU)

It's said that Stern has around a 1420 average old SAT I. You can consider Stern as around 2nd after Wharton. It is a very prestigious business program.

rofl 1420...

i'm bringing down the average with my 1360 hehe

So, 1420 would be about 710 per section?
Ahhh that's about 2130+ for the new SAT..
lol hhhuang, are you going to be a freshman next year at stern?

Would a 3.95 GPA and a 2100 SAT score be good enough for Stern (ED)?

i'd say, take the sat once more...
but its hard to say bc extra curriculars etc are VERY important
