I am interested in studying jazz saxophone in college. I plan to double major in jazz and either economics or math. I have been playing the saxophone for 7 years and take lessons. I also play in a quartet and our school jazz band. I am currently a junior in high school with over a 4.0 GPA and a 33 ACT score. I really want to study jazz and I am considering Michigan State and University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign. I have a lesson set up with the jazz saxophone instructor and University of Illinois. How competitive are these music programs? How many students apply? How hard is it to get in?
