How competitive is UTD merit money for out-of-state students?

Hi, I’m a rising junior interested in UT Dallas. I intend to major in a business field.

I would like to know how difficult it is for out-of-state students to obtain the top scholarships at UT Dallas. Do students need to be truly exceptional (e.g., have conducted their own research in high school, run a successful small business, or be National Merit) in order to get full tuition or other major university scholarships?

For a scholarship, you need a high SAT/ACT score and a high GPA and therefore rank. The ECs are not essential but can definitely help you. You do not need to have done research or started a business but would definitely help. They also look at strength of schedule including senior year.
