How competitve are your classmates?

How far are students willing to go in order to get ahead of other students?

What have some of you or our classmates done to get ahead of others?

Be honest.

Some of mine have smoked pot and they do nothing to cover the smell:(

But in all seriousness, copying is pretty popular here

My school is in one of the most competitive public school districts in the country (not joking here). Most of my friends have over 4.5 W GPA's and over 2000 SAT's, along with tons of EC's. I'm wondering, with a B GPA, will being from a competitive school hurt your chances?

Well, copying in my school mostly comes from laziness...
But for the most part, it's not that competitive. There are a few students who could chill about the whole college admissions thing, but as a whole, not so bad. Nothing atrocious ever happens.

Justsomeguy99:

That's precisely the reason why I started this thread.

I go to an exclusive school. Everyone is so competitive especially when applying to colleges.

U Penn, for example, only takes one student from each school. It's for diversity purposes? I don't know.

By the way, I didn't mean to discourage you, really.
I just used the U Penn example because a friend was talking with me about it yesterday.

Best of luck to you... and to us all.

I don't think there's any way to really curb copying in school.

My school is odd. As a whole, the entire student body is very apathetic about everything. Even though I'm in all IB classes, most of my classmates are not that much more motivated than classmates in less rigorous courses. It just seems nobody cares about anything! I'm a little worried because college (hopefully) will be a big change in terms of motivation.

But yeah everyone wants good grades, but won't stab someone in the back to get it. They just copy.
