Im not into politics but I still want to know about the political nature of the colleges I apply to. I'm gay and I wouldn't feel comfortable being in a college where I may feel rejected or feel that my values are being questioned. So in all, how does USC react with "gays" and how political left or right are they?
And in comparison to UCLA, how different are they in political terms.

There is a significant, if not overwhelming large, liberal community at USC. My son is among them and was co-founder of the student religious left organization. I can't speak to the "gay" thing, but afterall USC is in a major city. There should not be any problems either on or off campus. I cannot compare it to UCLA.

At USC in the dorms there are transgender and gay floors for those students who feel they would like to be part of them.

come on now...religious-left is oxymoronic lol

At orientation, there was a gay club with some friendly students giving away pink trojan football buttons. At parents weekend, there was a newspaper that listed pages of coming outs and supporters of the gay straight alliance. There were students, professors, staff and administration listed. I really can't forsee that you would run into anything negative. It is a pretty tolerent place. A large school that is even better is NYU.

I looked...and i still personally believe there is no such thing as a religious left. just my opinion..as lame as it is ;)

Thank you guys for the replies.

Can you guys tell me my chances then, or compare it with your stats.

SAT's

1190 on old scale
GPA: 4.4 / 4.0
Great Transcript
Decent EC's
Excellent Essay
Fair Amount of Community Service
Took 3 AP's - 3's on all the tests.

Btw, I haven't come out of the closet to my high school friends. Is it easier to come out in college?

sweet GPA, i wish i had that in high school. SATs are low, but you probably know that anyway.

As for the whole conservative thing, USC is pretty liberal for a private university so I don't think being gay at USC is going to be a problem at all since pretty much every student is accepting of people of all walks of life.
