Is the commute from the Eastside area (Redmond, Bellevue, etc.) stressful and long? Also how is parking for commuters at UW and how much does it cost (I can only find the dorm price)? I'm wondering if I should bother driving or just take the bus, though I don't really want to take the bus.

Parking is approx $500 per quarter whether you live in a dorm or not. They kind of discourage having a car. The UPASS (unlimited bus) is $75 a .

Parking for carpool (2+) at E1 (the intermural activities center parking) is ~$2 a day unless they changed it. If you guys don’t mind walking a little farther to campus, its well worth the savings.

They are adding a toll to the Evergreen bridge–I think $4/day or so. Traffic is bad most times. Not an easy place to drive to weekdays.

taking the bus from the eastside is pretty bad. The parking pass is $360 a quarter.

You can find free parking all day around campus but its really risky. Your car has a high chance to get backed into since most of the parking requires you to parallel park and get really close to cars. I drove my car around campus for 3 weeks and i already saw a scuff mark on my bumper. Also if you have a honda you’re car will have a high chance to get stolen or broken into.

I’m taking an Express bus across the 520 bridge from the Eastside… its an Express Bus, get off, connect to another Express bus

If you have 3 people with Husky Cards, you can park for $3 under Odegaard (C1-C5). That’s a dollar per person per day, it’s considered ‘impromptu carpool.’

Depending on where you live, there may be a direct bus to/from campus. If so, that’s a nice alternative to driving.

thanks for the responses. the new toll and the ridiculous parking fee make driving seem pretty undesirable. i’m probably going to drive to the park & ride and take a direct bus to UW.
