How could css profile schools verify me?

I am applying to a large sum of css schools.I turned independent this year (24) and 80% see me as an independent(some have their own rules like u chicago and columbia).I have no income how would they verify me? just asking because almost each year i get re verified and its an annoying process.

Wow 500 views and not one reply … thanks …

Did you file a non filer verification? Are you a transfer?

What you need should be on your school website.

Yes and Yes but my question is would they hassle me? because i pretty much lived on financial aid last year and i know that’s not a valid reason as to how i can survive on low funds for most schools. Also i am 24 yet about 25% of my css schools count me as an dependent…

You equate verification with “hassling”?

Columbia and I guess every other school will verify your fafsa using the IRS data retrieval tool.

Columbia’s form states:

CSS schools verify you by asking for tax and other documents either directly or using IDOC

I don’t file taxes as i don’t have an income which is why i was asking.

How are you going to pay for college? Who fed and housed you last year?

^ Financial aid, apparently.

Financial aid pays for his stuff and the OP can’t be bothered to do some basic verification.

How did you go from this

To zero income?

Aren’t you an international student? Are you considered a permanent resident or otherwise eligible for federal aid, or are you just looking for institutional aid?

Sadly i don’t have a business anymore… Economy just wasn’t good and it died out.It was an online business anyway.Financial aid at my school takes care of 95% of my needs right now.I am a legal resident of new york.I am only curious on how they would verify? I got about 1000$ + some money i got from financial aid in my account and that is about it.

If you are receiving enough FA to live off of then it sounds like you are receiving more aid then just for tuition & fees. Aid in excess of tuition & fees is considered income and you should be filing taxes on that income.

So are you saying financial aid can ruin the financial aid for next year?
also how can taking out loans effect css? (the leftover money is basiclly from loans…)

In one of your previous posts, you stated that you are now attending school in Texas (texas tech). This means that you would not longer be a NYS resident, because have abandon your New York State domicile, which means you will probably lose your New York State residency status and the in-state tuition benefit.

As far as i know your dont lose domicile if you go away for school.I checked up on that so many times. Also i was considered dependent last year which makes everything just so much more confusing.Hello i called the schools and i am still instate because i guess in new york they about where you live and not where you study .Thank you all for your advice you have been very helpful so based on you advice i will just call and ask the css schools individuality.

This only pertains to dependent students who are residents where their parents live. As an independent student, this may not pertain to you. Do you have a domicile in NYS? Do your parents still reside in NYS?

Verification? I would worry more that you won’t have enough money to attend even if you get accepted. With no income and no assets how are you going to pay what won’t be covered by financial aid?

Loan up? sad but true…

And absolutely inane
