How crazy are MIT applicants about science and math?

Sorry to make any offence:p

Are successful MIT applicants mostly science-geeks who have won a LOT of National and International Olympic medals?

I mean, how strong in science competitions must you be in order to be a fit for MIT?

Thanks for any reply:)

there is no certain point at geek/cool scale which can get you into Mit,
even if there is, nobody other than admission officers knows about this sacret point

Yes.

No.

Most MIT applicants have not participated in science competitions, except perhaps in local science fairs. Look at the decisions threads for the past two years (they’re stickied at the top of the home page of the fourm) – they list the profiles of almost all the applicants from the past two years who posted on CC. You will see that everyone is very accomplished, but that very few people have international-level awards.
