Is it enough to have a creative topic and is it too much if you write the essay in a nontraditioanl essay format?

Keep the essay in an essay format—that’s why colleges ask for essays, not poems, plays, etc. You can have dialogue in your essays, you can write in the first person, and they don’t have to be written with completely formal language, but you should still be writing an essay.
