I'm sure you can guess my position. I have a solid SAT score (700,610,680, and possibly rising after the January SAT) good extracurriculars (Violin, national athletics gold, some volunteer work, drama), good recommendations and confidence in my essays, how much will a poor transcript weigh down my application?

More specifically, I am applying to liberal arts colleges like Dickinson, Macalester, Colgate, Grinnell, Washington & Lee, if that helps.

for that “national athletics gold” whatever that might mean – if you are recruited athlete you may very well get in. Otherwise, as one adcom was quoted in an article as saying

:P right that isn’t encouraging. Here in Ireland there is no such thing as a transcript as colleges accept students on the score they get in the state exams alone; no interview, essays, anything. so my transcript isn’t awful but i never had a reason to care so its not above 3.0 by a lot if anything…

The people who are most likely to be able to predict your chances of admission anywhere are the counselors at Dublin office of EducationUSA [EducationUSA - Center Profile - The Fulbright Commission - Ireland](http://www.educationusa.info/Fulbright-Ireland) If you haven’t already consulted them, do that. They are the experts at helping students in Ireland work their way through this process.
