how dark must the bubbles be?

hey

I took the May SAT, the first time I've taken a standardized test in my life.

I used a #2 Pencil but we weren't allowed to sharpen our pencils. Thus, after the essay and the first sections my bubbles became very bright. They say on the answer sheet that you must make sure that the letter is completely covert but I noticed that there were bubbles which still revealed the letters on my answer sheet. I hadn't enough time to darken the bubbles, so will those not-so-dark-bubbles be counted as omissions by the scanning machines?

if i find a myriad of omissions on my report sheet and i ask for handscoring, will the handscorers count the letters revealing bubbles as omissions as well?

thanks for your help.

As long as the bubbles are filled in and are fairly dark, i think they will be picked up, especially since the scantron machine picks up patterns meaning that if you completely filled in the bubbles that is your pattern and it will pick up all the ones that are colored in like that (unless theyre REALLY light). Also, the handscorers should count those. I dont see why not-you filled in the bubble!

I used to grade a lot of scantrons, and basically

If you marked it and filled in a bubble, no problem.

If you erase most of it and bubble in another letter dark, no problem.

If you make stray marks, no problem.

thanks thats relieving
