How Did An Idiot Like Kerry Get Into Yale?

There is a difference between naturally using good vocabulary and sounding like a complete moron attempting to spew some large words; unfortunately, the latter applies to you...for ex. you use "exude" horribly as generally a person exudes (literally meaning to "sweat out" from the latin "ex-out and sudare-to sweat"), not an inanimate object.
This is getting old really quickly...
Exude:
To discharge or emit (a liquid or gas, for example) gradually.
To exhibit in abundance: a face that exuded self-satisfaction.

In neither of these definitions is the subject specified; thus, it can be anything. You are making a qualitative judgment regarding my word choice, but such a judgment is pointless as is your post. I could reason that your post is qualitatively rubbish, but without a quantitative or analytic framework of assessment, that claim would, too, be rubbish. Similarly, your qualitative judgment lacks foundation, and does not purport to establish one in its postulation. It is garbage. Flaunt your worthless vituperations elsewhere alongside your pseudo-intellectual vanity.

Now cease your banter or I shall taunt you a second time... (Oh how I love Monty Python).

you're a word snob nspeds :-)

'Tis true. I am a logophile;)
haha...you're an expert now, huh? I'm learning, I'm learning... I've just finished my first year. :-) I was proud that I decided on a major at the beginning of the year and stuck with it and LIKE it for that matter.
I am hardly an expert. I, too, am a learner; I suspect I will remain a learner for the duration of my career, but that is what I love about it. I genuinely respect your decision in majoring in philosophy; all too often I am confronted with pre-professional dullards...

Don't be so critical. I'm a newbie. Thus far, I'm enjoying myself and have learned a lot, so no more bubble bursting.
'Bubble-bursting' is amusing; nothing is more enjoyable than shooting the breeze and dashing the hopes of a beginner:P

I am a bubble-burster. My name is nspeds the bubble-burst. I construct and sell bubble-bursts.

Nspeds-
I would like to offer you some advice. You seem to have a very advanced vocabulary-whether you developed this from extensive reading of the the thesaurus is immaterial, and using "big" words certainly can give any written or spoken statement panach
Overusing "big" words, however, just makes you seem like an arrogant a$$hole,
I am not here to impress nor convince. If you do not enjoy my answers because you cannot understand them, buy a dictionary and make an effort. Do not whine. Deal with it. If you are lethargic, then do not respond. It is that simple. I did not ask for a critique my writing style; I came here for substantive discourse, as do most when they read the title of this thread.

This is not only a lesson to you in this instance, but it also applies to life. In college or professional school, you cannot whine because texts are obscure. You take your own effort to understand it, and the preponderance of success comes from you.

and also inhibits the reader or listener from clearly understanding your point b.**
Perhaps that is because I never declared my stance? However, if you look into my post history, finding out should not be difficult.

At any rate, I never stated that good writing necessitates a capacious vocabulary, though induction may suggest otherwise. Those who know me well understand that I am not as pretentious or arrogant as you seem to suggest. If others choose to adopt better forms of writing, that does not mean they are arrogant; moreover, if you think what I write is obscure and difficult, then you do not belong in college.

And a note for everyone else: If you have a problem with my writing, I could care less. Please do not digress from the thread to explicate your distaste. You are wasting my time and yours, and you will likely lose in confronting me. If your abhorrence for my rhetoric is unbearable, my PM box is always available.

nspeds, i can tell that you do not have much of a social life. Because if you did, you post in "normal" language, one that can be easilly understood and can be nicely responded. You attempt to sound scholarly has made your argument as clear as homo sapiens of the stone ages. This is 2005, who talks like that in a discussion anyway? Sorry if I sounded rude, its just a suggestion :) You remind of a clown trying to impress little children but in vain.

"Perhaps that is because I never declared my stance? However, if you look into my post history, finding out should not be difficult."

You never won a debate in your life, did you?

Who are you kidding? Plenty of my friends speak and write in the same manner. In fact, they often criticize me for being too simplistic (ohhh the irony). I thought you would be mature enough to resign from using the term 'normal'. Is high school not the time when students learn to rebel and establish themselves as individuals instead of conforming to ridiculous standards imposed by imbeciles?

I do not care about winning; discourse is good mental exercise and I learn from it. Anyone who views discourse solely as a competitive mechanism is misguided.

Once again, as per the disclaimer, take it to the PM box. This getting tiring.

"I do not care about winning; discourse is good mental exercise and I learn from it"

I am pretty sure that people dont learn much debating from with you :)
Because you hardly make yourself clear.

A part of my postulating abtruse arguments is for the purpose if inspiring others to consult the dictionary and learn new words. My posts are understandable if you know the vocabulary; if you do not know the vocabulary, then consult a dictionary and learn something new. Is that not why you are all going to college? For the joy of learning?

Auuuggghh!!!

Enough with the pointless banter -- I feel guilty as a participant

Let us refer to a previous statement posted by someone with incredible foresight :D

You should stick to quoting scholarly articles instead of trying to pass off as an intellectual yourself.

Thanks for inspiring me! LMAO. I find it hard to be inspired by someone on the Internet trying to pass himself off as an intellectual.

This is hillarious! But sorry, uc_benz, its still not as hillarious as your claim that Al Gore invented the internet :)

Ah yes, the imbecile who posts logical fallacies... now this is the mark of a true intellectual. He first loses an argument, and this is the best he can do.

I think I will just 'chalk this one up' as another win for me. I need no 'passing off', for my accomplishments have already done that for me.

Oh, and far be it for one from Northwestern to talk of intellectualism, lest it hurt his job opportunities...

...not the mention the manner in which he epitomizes maturity.

"I think I will just 'chalk this one up' as another win for me. I need no 'passing off', for my accomplishments have already done that for me."

How can you claim yourself winner? We hardly understand what you say!! Your debate with uc_benz is like a debate between Bush and Chirac -- one is too stupid to make a valid point while the other is incomprehensible.

Shall I take that as a compliment? Get a dictionary.

But thanks anyways:)

Are you liberal or are you conservative? Or are your lame arguments just too beyond the realm of party politics? I feel like I am communicating with an ape because everything you say is too vague. :) And no, I did not compliment you, I am suggesting you to get a life, and quit acting like a smartass.

You are seventeen years old...

Now I get what you are saying.

Dissing Northwestern? This is coming from someone who is going to Georgetown! HAHA. How is the weather down there with all the state schools? I look forward to reviewing your resume in 5 years.

Too bad...
<a href="http://leiterreports.typepad.com/blog/2003/11/will_northweste.html%5B/url%5D">http://leiterreports.typepad.com/blog/2003/11/will_northweste.html</a></p>

Also, Georgetown students place better at Law Schools, so it does not really make a difference. Since am pursuing a career in academia, and given the pre-professional stance of Northwestern, I doubt I will be submitting a resume to any pseudo-intellectual from your school.

Edit: ...and I was admitted into Northwestern.

"I look forward to reviewing your resume in 5 years."

And I'll look foward to yours in 7 years :)
