I just got my acceptance today with basically a full ride in financial aid. In the same swoop, I was denied by Davidson and put on the waitlist at Carleton. Don't get me wrong, I am so happy and excited, but I'm flummoxed as well. If I didn't even get into those schools (which to my understanding, have substantially higher acceptance rates), why did Middlebury want me? College admissions is a mystery.

Makes me nervous about this upcoming week! I still have to hear back from Carnegie Mellon, Haverford, Amherst (yeah right), Williams (no way in hell), and Tufts.

Admissions are a mystery.Congratulations; it’s a great school.

I got into Carleton, rejected by Davidson and put on the wait list by Middlebury. I can’t figure out for the life of me what Carleton saw in me but such is the nature of the college admissions beast.

at this level most applicants are qualified to be admitted, but there simply aren’t enough spots for all the people who seek admission. So there are a lot of situations, when you compare admissions across several different, but similar schools, that don’t seem to make sense. At this level it really is a crap shoot.

Out of all the schools on my list, I only got into Middlebury, Skidmore, and SUNY Bing. 2nd best school on my list. So who knows? And I’m doing pretty well at Middlebury, so I just like to think they saw something special in me that others didn’t!
