So, i'm reading through threads on here, and i'm realizing that some kids that have better stats than me apparently don't have a good chance of getting into UT. But I got accepted?

I'm ranked 30/323
SAT: 1610
ACT:26
GPA: 96.043
i took:
English 4
Webmasters
Economics/Gov't
AP Calculus
DC Life Science
Spanish 3 pre-ap

EC:
NHS
Student Council all four years
Senior class treasurer
UIL Computer Applications (went to state junior year)
Key Club freshman year
Basketball freshman and sophomore years

i got accepted to my second choice major (Computer Science), which means i would have gotten accepted anyways if i wasn't barely in top ten percent, right?

How did you get in? You are from Texas and were ranked 30/323. Under HB 588, the school is obligated to accept you. The kids who had poor chance evaluations either weren’t ranked in the top ten percent or were from out of state, so weren’t guaranteed admission.

CS isn’t a particularly competitive major to get accepted to–I think they take all top ten kids who request it, unlike business or some engineering fields that will cut off after 3 or 4 percent of applicants.

Enjoy your good fortune that you get the benefits of the law–if you had been 2 years younger you would have found it much more difficult to get in.

Top 10% rule + good enough stats for computer science major. Test those stats with McCombs and see whats happens lol jk…congratulations
